Your TDEE doesn't come from a formula. It comes from your body.

Most calorie apps hand you a number from a 1990 equation and call it your metabolism. actucally learns your real maintenance calories from what you actually log, and it’s honest about how sure it is.

Both go to the same place: the actucally Google Group. Google Play closed testing runs through it, so joining is how you get the build when it’s ready.

The problem

Everyone’s tracking. Almost nobody’s number is real.

You can log perfectly for a month and still be eating to a target that was never measured on you. Three things go wrong, and every app repeats all three.

📐

The formula was never about you

Standard calculators run your height, weight, age and a vague “activity level” through an equation fitted to strangers. Two people with identical inputs can burn hundreds of calories apart.

⚖️

The scale lies day to day

Water, salt, sleep and yesterday’s dinner move the number by a kilo overnight. Read it literally and you’ll swing between “it’s working” and “it’s broken” every 24 hours.

📅

One missed day and you’re “off track”

Skip a log and most apps either pretend you ate nothing or quietly ruin your averages. So a single untracked dinner turns into an abandoned month.

How it works

Log twice a day. Let the math find your number.

actucally starts with the usual formula as a placeholder, then replaces it piece by piece with a figure regressed out of your own logs.

1

Log your weight and what you ate

Once a day, two numbers. A morning, post-wake weigh-in gives the cleanest signal — but the app is built to survive imperfect logging, not to punish it.

2

It reads the trend, not the noise

Your daily weights get smoothed into a trend line, then fitted against time to find how fast you’re really moving. That slope, paired with your average intake, is what your body is actually spending.

3

You get a number, and a margin

Instead of one false-precision figure, you see your maintenance calories with a ± range around them, and a badge saying how much the app trusts it yet.

What makes it different

Honest math in a friendly app

It admits what it doesn’t know yet

For the first few days the app says so out loud, and blends toward your real data as the logs come in. Log honestly and daily, and the number becomes truly yours in about two weeks.

Still learning about you Getting to know you Tuned to your body

A ± range, not false precision

Every estimate ships with the uncertainty behind it. Sparse data or a messy week widens the range instead of hiding it, so you know when to trust the number.

2,410 ± 90 kcal

Grace days instead of guilt

Missed tracking? No stress. Mark the day as a normal one or a cheat one and the app fills in a sensible estimate, marks it as estimated, and widens your range accordingly. No guilt, just honest math.

🍽️ Normal day 🎉 Cheat day

See the trend, not the daily drama

Your history plots every raw weigh-in against the smoothed trend line, over any window you like. Watch the trend. That’s the line that tells the truth about where your weight is headed.
